Assessment needs have validity, reliability and authenticity to be meaningful. Assessment should encourage, build confidence, focus on building success and create hope. Adults and youth alike need information and feedback to get better. When the feedback is purely negative or not constructive to the work, this creates a false sense of hopelessness and discouragement. As educators it is important to recognize the importance of helpful feedback to the students.
