Just as we are different readers in each book we pick up, so too are our students. They are not impermeable to the outside world, and the same is true for their comprehension. Enjoy the journey— and the art!—of matching them with books and getting to know them as readers.

Adrienne Gear’s book, Reading Power: Teaching Students to Think While They Read, offers an approach to comprehension instruction. The books contains various strategic approaches with lesson suggestions, reading suggestions, activities suggestions and graphic organizers.
I love Adrienne Gears work and find her books help me create lessons that are supportive for the students! I especially enjoy the list of books she offers after every section in a variety of themes and levels.
